History
The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) was born in 2002 after a chance encounter in a Sea Girt, NJ Grocery store by 25 year film industry veteran Diane Raver and the well known Hollywood actor Robert Pastorelli. Through his deep ties to Hollywood Mr. Pastorelli and Ms. Raver were able to bring the State of New Jersey an all encompassing event. It premiered in 2003 and was immediately deemed a huge success. Since that time, such industry notables such as Glenn Close, Frank Vincent, Batman producer Michael Uslan, Austin Pendleton, Kurtwood Smith, James Gandolfini, Budd Schulberg and others have lent their support.

GSFF is an all volunteer non-profit organization. Our event is held on an annual basis in the spring of each year at the Paramount Theater/Convention Hall complex as well as other venues in Asbury Park, New Jersey and surrounding area.

Michael’s Feat – Black Tie Spring Gala

Published by ourmonmouth under Local Events

Break out your tuxedos and eveningwear. Michael’s Feat, a local non-profit organization, is hosting its Black Tie Spring Gala at the Battleground Country Club in Manalapan on Friday, March 20, 2009. The Michael Gerard Puharic Memorial Fund, Inc. (Michael’s Feat) is dedicated to assisting local families carrying and caring for seriously ill newborns.

The black-tie optional event scheduled from 7 to 11 p.m., and will feature a lavish spread of appetizers, gourmet foods, premium open bar, and decadent desserts from Flaky Tart Bakery. The event will also feature live entertainment, dancing, and a huge silent auction. Tickets are $100 per person and a table of ten is $900.

“In the children’s story, Hope for the Flowers, young caterpillars struggle with challenges and crises in the hopes of transforming into beautiful butterflies,” Dana Puharic, Chairman of Michael’s Feat, said. “At Michael’s Feat, our hope is that all of the little flowers we have the pleasure of helping will bloom and show their precious beauty within.”

Michael’s Feat to Host Spring Gala

This year, the Michael’s Feat Honorary Chair is Kristin Belger. Kristin is a professional graphic designer who has used her talent to transform the image of Michael’s Feat. Michael’s Feat came to know Kristin and her husband, Jeff, after their son Nathaniel was born in 2005. Since then, Kristin has donated hours upon hours of her creativity on Michael’s Feat print materials. When asked to be this year’s chair, Kristin replied, “From the phone cards we used during our son’s 7.5 months in the NICU to Dana’s comforting presence and generous donation given to us at Nathaniel’s wake, Michael’s Feat will forever be embedded in our hearts ~ assisting us through the most difficult time in our lives. The dedication and tireless efforts of everyone at Michael’s Feat is evident when speaking to those families they have touched. I am grateful and honored to be a part of such an amazing foundation.”

As a tradition, Michael’s Feat will once again honor a local family who has struggled in caring for their seriously ill newborn. Kristen and Rushil Sankpal of Belford will be this year’s recipients. Their son, Ethan Sankpal, was born at just 24 weeks and spent much of his early life in the hospital. Upon his arrival at home, the family took over much of his medical care and through their love and advocacy he continues to grow stronger every day.

“After 9 long months spent in three different NICU’s, Michael’s Feat provided the additional home nursing care needed for us to bring our son Ethan home. Ethan has made so many gains since leaving the hospital in June. He is a happy, curious little boy who gets stronger and healthier everyday. It is difficult to find words that sufficiently express our gratitude. The support we received from Michael’s Feat allowed us to finally become a family. How do you thank someone for that? We are humbled to be the honored family at this year’s gala, but we truly feel that we should be honoring Dana and Adam Puharic and all of the individuals that make such an amazing charity possible.” said Kristen and Rushil Sankpal.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

The Michael Gerard Puharic Memorial Fund Inc., a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was created in loving memory of Aberdeen residents Adam and Dana Puharic’s newborn son Michael, who died after an 83-hour battle with a serious chromosome disorder. Michael’s Feat provides support through the donation of needed items enabling parents to care for their ill children. To attend the gala, or to receive more information, please rsvp@michaelsfeat.org or contact Dana Puharic at (732) 239-7887.

NJ please support ARMS

We support local charity
American Recreational Military Services (A.R.M.S), a 501 (c)(3) Public Charity

In order to help the local charity ARMS on its important mission we have volunteered to actively help promote its latest fund raising efforts. Any business or organization making a suggested contribution of $250 dollars or more will receive a thank you on OurMonmouth.com.
A special section on the homepage has been created just to show support from the local business community. Our troops and their families really deserve community support for their sacrifices. Please help us show them that we appreciate their service to our county. You support a great cause and we support your business! Any support or help in promoting this cause is appreciated.

For more information go to the business and community directory of Monmouth County.

Best wishes and thank you!

Complete Press release:

ARMS reaches out to fellow New Jerseyans to help “our own” deployed troops.
This year NJ will experience the biggest troop activation of our National Guard and Reserves since WWII. We cannot continue doing what we have done so well for the past 5 years without everyone’s help. 3,200 troops will be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, they and their families will need comfort both abroad and at home and ARMS can supply this with help from all fellow New Jerseyans. Please help our campaign and donate a tax deductible donation to A.R.M.S.
Red Bank, NJ, April 14th, 2008: American Recreational Military Services (ARMS) an all volunteer 501c3 is asking for your help. This year NJ will experience the biggest troops surge since WWII. We cannot continue doing what we have done so well for the past 5 years without everyone’s help. 3,200 troops will be deployed, they and their families will need comfort both abroad and at home and ARMS can supply this with help from all fellow New Jerseyans.
Our biggest expense is packaging material and shipping cost. The average comfort package that we send to the troops cost about $10.00 in postage to ship. We do not get a shipping cost discount from the U.S. Post Office The content of the packages are all donated by the wonderful school children, parents, church groups, civic groups, veteran organizations and business owners, of NJ. Over the past 5 years we have shipped over 20,000 packages to the troops.
The impact your can make on these families lives with your support cannot be underestimated. Your donations either financial, goods, or time is critical to our success. To show our appreciation of your support OurMonmouth.com has committed to recognize any business, organization, or individual that contributes over $250 with a featured spot on the homepage. OurMonmouth.com is a local business and community directory of Monmouth County.
American Recreational Military Services (A.R.M.S), a 501 (c)(3) Public Charity was founded in 2003 by a group of grass roots volunteers who wanted to give something back to the military and their families. In a matter of months, this small organization had grown from just a handful to more than 325 volunteers throughout the tri-state area. A.R.M.S. continues to provide services to local armories throughout the region. A.R.M.S. supports the area unit Family Readiness Groups, as well as providing direct assistance to family members in need. In addition, A.R.M.S. has been working with the local military bases to address quality of life issues for soldiers and their families.
