BlueClaws to Host Troop Supply and Clothing Drive

Published by ourmonmouth under Local Events

I am a big fan of the Blue Claws. It is such a great time for the family and kids and they are such a wonderful resource to the community. They host other event like 2009 Cycles 54 Twilight Series, presented by NJ Natural Gas. They have shown great support to the community through event like this! It is nice to see an organization give back to the community as well as support local business. Thank you Blue Claws!

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Lakewood BlueClaws will host their annual Military Appreciation Night at FirstEnergy Park on Tuesday, June 16th and the BlueClaws are asking fans to help support the troops by participating in the Troop Supply and Clothing Drive at that night’s game.

Boxes will be set up in front of the ballpark for fans to drop off a variety of items. The list of items in need includes razors, snacks, baby wipes, shampoo, soap, non-chocolate candy and sweets, sun block (SPF 40 or higher), lip balm, writing utensils, silly string, deodorant, tissues, q-tips, white socks, batteries-
, insect repellant with Deet and flashlights.

The Troop Supply and Clothing Drive is in conjunction with the Monmouth-Ocean Central Labor Council Military Committee, Monmouth-Ocean Building Trade Council, National Guard, Toms River Armory, A.R.M.S, Troop Clothing Drive, and IBEW Local 400 Military Committee. Additionally, Local 400 takes supplies all year round at 3310 Hwy 138 E in Wall.

“It’s not often that you get to thank the people that risk their lives on a daily basis to make this country safe,” said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. “It’s our pleasure to host Military Appreciation Night and the Troop Supply Drive so our fans can give back to these special people.”

“This is our 5th year doing this event,” said member of IBEW Local 400 Military Committee Pay O’Keefe. “Since then we have picked up more organizations to make it even a bigger success and I’m sure this year will be even better.”

The BlueClaws players and coaches will be wearing special camouflage jerseys during the game as in years past.

The BlueClaws will also continue to collect gently used cell phones as part of the Cell Phones for Soldiers program. Bring your used cell phone to the NJR Information Booth behind home plate during any BlueClaws game to donate.

Ceremonies for the 7:05 p.m. game with the Delmarva Shorebirds (Baltimore Orioles) will begin at approximately 6:15.

The Lakewood BlueClaws welcomed 425,166 fans to FirstEnergy Park during the 2008 season which upped their eight-season total to 3,595,378. They have led the South Atlantic League in average or overall attendance in each of their eight seasons.

The team recently announced that all children, ages 12 and under, will eat free at every 2009 home game thanks to NJ 101.5.

Published by ourmonmouth under Local Events

Since I currently own two Subaru’s and have a great love for all things NJ (well almost everything OK!) I felt inspired to share this with you. The funny thing is that those of you who know me, know I am also a mountain biker. After I bought my new bike last year I found out that that Subaru sponsors the Gary Fisher team. Not only do I own their cars but I also own a bike. Talk about a target market, well Subaru and Gary Fisher you had me pegged….

Through the razzle-dazzle of this musical Broadway-quality musical production, children learn about patience, acceptance and teamwork. The universal appeal of a Sesame Street Live production continues long after preschool. Adults will appreciate the high-tech stagecraft, cleverly written scripts, and music they’ll recognize and enjoy sharing with children, such as “The Hustle,” “You Should Be Dancing” and “Rockin’ Robin.” “Elmo Makes Music” features nearly two dozen songs, including classics that children will love to sing along with such as “C Is for Cookie” and “The Alphabet Song.”
