What do I eat for dinner? What should I have for breakfast?? How much & how often should I drink if it’s hot/cold??? Should I be drinking Gatorade or water or….????

Do you have any last minute questions about your nutritional plan heading into the 1/2 or full marathon? Have all your nutritional questions answered on Saturday by renowned endurance sports nutritional strategist, Brian Shea. There’s a reason some of the best athletes in world consult with Brian prior to Olympic & World Championship events & now you have the opportunity to do the same. Brian will conduct an overview of pre & race day nutritional strategies as well as an ‘open’ Q&A to get all your nutritional questions answered before heading into the big day!

Coach Jack Heely is an running coach with Great Strides, LLC. Coach Heely has been an avid sportsman all of his life. For over 35 years he has played and coached adult and youth soccer. he has also played baseball, cricket, and of course, he is a dedicated runner, having complete 30 marathons and 7 ultra marathons. He has been an official marathon pacer with the New Jersey Marathon for the past 3 years and is very familiar with every mile of our course.

1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Wayne Baker
The history of the Johnny Hayes 1908 Olympic Marathon Medal, why the marathon is 26.2 miles and how the story of Dorando Pietri and Johhny Hayes can make you a smarter runner tomorrow. AND the 1908 Olympic Gold Medal will be on display at the expo!

2:00 – 2:30 p.m. David Stretanski
Certified ChiRunning & ChiWalking Coach & Instructor
ChiRunning/ChiWalking Approaches to Injury-Free Fitness

ChiRunning/ChiWalking combine the principles and inner focus of T’ai Chi with running/walking to dramatically improve posture, balance, technique, and efficiency while reducing any chance of discomfort, aches/pains or injury. The session will present the key principles and how they create a safe, effective and enjoyable lifelong fitness program. Comparisons between running vs. ChiRunning and walking vs. ChiWalking and will also be provided. Merchandise will be available after the lecture, from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.

David has been an unbelievable supporter of the YMCA Tri-Club, but more importantly is a true enthusiast who gives of himself to help new runners and promote the sport of running.

    Wow, there are a lot of great events going on around the marathon! It would be really fun to get to listen to some of the topics that will be spoken about. What a fun filled day of activities for the whole family, too!
